Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born 1 June 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis' Greek name is a feminine version of her father's name: Alan. Georgia is the full name of her mother and she shares two brothers named Chad Wade and Chad Wade. She learned to play the piano in her early years, aged 6 and then took up guitar when she was 21. In 1986, Alanis created a song titled Fate Stay with Me (b-side: Find The Right Man). Within Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop records: Alanis (in 1991) and Now Is The Time in 1992. Aged 18, she moved to Toronto and worked with several artists and songwriters, however the collaborations didn't work. In 1994, she was able to find the right collaborator: writer and producer Glen Ballard, who had previously worked with a variety of performers, including Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. She then moved to LA when she was 19 years old. on June 13, 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released through Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis's songs were autobiographical. JLP has sold over 30 million copies around the globe. It has become the highest selling female album and 3rd most popular album the past. The singer was in a state of emotionally tense time (she might have considered not releasing another record) and took a tour to India. Alanis Alanis Alanis
